2017 KCPE Top Candidate

GoldalyneFor the third year in a row, Kakamega County has produced top candidate in KCPE in the country.

Kakamega County’s Goldalyn Kakuya scored 455 marks to emerge the top performer countrywide in the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination beating 993,718 candidates.

The 14-year-old was a student at St Ann Junior School Lubao and attributed her success to prayer and hard work.

Kakuya wants to study psychiatry or psychotherapy when she enrolls at the university to fulfill her dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.

Her mother, Maltida Webo Tanga, who is a teacher at the St Paul’s Kibabii Diploma Training College in Bungoma got news of her daughter’s performance while in class.

Her father Harrison Webo Tanga, a manager at West Kenya Sugar  was overjoyed with the impressive performance. “My daughter has made us proud,” said Mr. Tanga.

Fred Kiiri, County Director of Education said he was happy with the impressive performance by Goldalyn and congratulated her.
